To demolish the existing single-story home and design a new two-story duplex that provides two comfortable, private living units on a single lot — meeting the City of Torrance’s requirements for multi-unit residential development while presenting as a cohesive, single architectural composition from the street.
The Details
The ground floor of each unit is largely dedicated to private garage parking, with four total covered spaces accessed via a shared driveway. The second floor of each unit houses the main living spaces, including an open kitchen and living room centered on a large island, along with multiple bedrooms, bathrooms, and a dedicated laundry room. Private balconies overlook the front and rear yards, while the mirrored layout maintains clear separation and privacy between the two units.
The Materials
Smooth white stucco walls are paired with crisp black-framed windows and doors, deep eaves with classic crown detailing, and a traditional tile roof.
